In the current world, there are many emerging theoretical and activist concerns in the field of feminism. Sociologists are working on establishing new ways of thinking about sociological aspects such as neoliberalism and religious freedom. This paper designs ABX Women’s Rights Group as an organization committed to establishing new ways of thinking about the expected social changes. More people have diverted their attention to supporting the entities that work on anti-racism practices and the promotion of unity. Generally, individuals think positively about the aforementioned social aspects and are working to implement them. The main focus of ABX Women’s Rights Group would be to maintain social practices that ensure every person lives a comfortable life free from discrimination and inequality. This research paper designs the organization to enact social change in line with theoretical and activist concerns of feminism. It covers new ways of thinking in various sociological aspects of life, including secularism, civil liberties, and human rights, neoliberalism, nationalism and identity politics, anti-racism and multiculturalism, religious freedom, and feminist resistance.
Overview of ABX Women’s Right Group
ABX Women’s Rights Group targets to operate as a global feminist membership organization to help in achieving gender equality, women’s rights, and the promotion of sustainable development. The group will function as a non-profit organization with active offices in UK, U.S., and Africa. ABX Women’s Rights Group will continue to lead women in achieving the state of ‘universal good,’ which is characterized by females enjoying equal rights to development as men. The goal is to resolve the persistent inequality issues, especially those related to the limited involvement of women in decision-making and income generation in society. With the above commitment, ABX Women’s Rights Group would be one of the organizations with significant influences on the inception of new approaches to spearhead social changes related to feminism.
New Ways of Thinking About Secularism
Secularism connotes the separation of civic issues from religion, and it entails atheism, naturalism, and the exclusion of religious symbols from the public domain. It is a movement geared toward modernization, with a greater extent in protecting women’s religion from government interference on a social level (Bennoune, 2006). Secularism has asserted women’s rights to be free from religious rules or government imposition of religion on them. Further, it has maintained an official state of the church in the support of women, and children’s religion on the social or philosophical level. Religion is portrayed as something potentially dangerous, especially in the case where women are not considered in the government. National Reform Association (NRA) has been founded to maintain existing Christian features in the government to make changes to the constitution (Bennoune, 2006). The amendments have forced most nations to accept the moral laws of the Christian religion on an undeniable basis. Significantly, the current improvements have enabled women to exercise their religion in society.
In contemporary days, secularism forms the core of many developments in scientific appreciation of the world. However, sociologists expect that most of the global populations embracing secularist thoughts will considerably decline over the coming years (Ellis et al., 2017). In his study, Ellis et al. (2017) noted that the secularists will decrease due to increasing religiosity as well as intelligence. As the population grows, secularism and religiosity are handed down to the next generations. Yet, secularism is highly overtaken by religiosity, which is inherited by most of the incoming generations. Therefore, there will be a continuity in the reduction in the human population approaching the world from secularist and scientific standpoints. Against this backdrop, ABX Women’s Rights Group will work to strengthen individual rights related to secularism and safeguard people from religious influence. It will petition against the idea that moral laws associated with the Christian religion are compulsory and instead fight for women to embrace a religion based on freedom of choice.
New Thinking About Civil Liberties and Human Rights
There is a central ideology regarding social justice and rights, which leads to arguments that no human right is unconnected to human dignity. Dignity thinking is important to people with mental disorders and does not bring justice to those subjected to detention and treatment (Bennoune, 2006). These are self-identified bisexual women and lesbians, transgender, and intersex, people who protect human rights and act as subjects in the defense of specific threats and risks associated with the rights. Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRD) are against violence and discrimination based on identities, equality, and justice. ABX Women’s Right Group will collaborate with WHRD to raise awareness of threats and risks, holistic measures of safety and protection, and advocacy for feminism. The defenders were initiated to expose gender-specific risks and violence following the numerous challenges identified in gender norms in society (Bennoune, 2006). Therefore, in ABX Women’s Rights Group, WHRD should defend women who are at risk of stress, death, physical assault, criminalization, judicial harassment, and intimidation.
New Thinking About Neoliberalism
Neoliberalism is a new economic and social concept that advocates for and emphasizes re-tasking of the state’s duties, market relations, and the responsibilities of individuals. It also encompasses the diversification of market competition in all areas of human life, including economy, politics, and society (Cowden & Singh, 2017). Worldwide, almost everyone is after getting the feminist label; corporate women are publicly affirming themselves as feminists. Declaring oneself as feminist serves as a source of cultural capital and pride for music celebrities and Hollywood stars (Cowden & Singh, 2017). ABX Women’s Rights Group is against neoliberalism, and it will mobilize feminism to enhance the market value and advance political goals. For instance, over the decade, there has been a rise in a particular variant of feminism in the UK and the U.S. As a result, neoliberal feminism has emerged as an area of emphasis (Cowden & Singh, 2017). Neoliberal feminism may help contain sexual harassment and gender wage gap inequalities in the community. Neoliberal feminism is mostly focused on the upper-middle and the average class of people to incite women in accepting their responsibilities for their benefit, self-care, and wellbeing (Cowden & Singh, 2017). Essentially, with the increase of neoliberal feminism, women are encouraged to lay emphasis on their prosperities as a way of averting gender-related abuses.
New Ways of Thinking About Nationalism and Identity Politics
The global boundaries have led to the question of who takes the new agency in the country. Currently, the world boundaries are not secure at all and local developments, i.e. economic, cultural, military, and medical are unequal across nations. There are international implications whenever political identity is militarised under nationalism (Kumar, 2019). Concerning the degradation of the systemic environment, state-based identities and their priorities are mostly inadequate, and as such, there are great threats to progress especially on the side of women. The answer to the question of who people are is drastically and rapidly becoming complex due to the lack of conventional categorization (self-evidence). The binary distinction between here-there, life-death, and us-them has been blurred as a result of technological developments (Kumar, 2019). What is mostly seen is a symbolic retreat to the past and invention of tradition where women’s roles are politically pertinent to meeting neo-colonialism and globalization challenges (Kumar, 2019). Hence, politics of identity has propelled the formation of ABX Women’s Rights Group to remodel women’s perceptions and practices.
New Thinking About Anti-Racism and Multiculturalism
The notion of anti-racism and multiculturalism education has been viewed as a way of deceit, deficiency, and ignorance. The politics of post-secular feminism has evolved to integrate multiculturalism education, which aims at meeting minor ambitions and addressing grievances (Vasilaki, 2016). The training, in most cases, affects the physical process of adaption; hence, it is proven to disservice minorities (women) in society. Another weakness is that multiculturalism ignores the organizational foundation of discrimination and dominance. For instance, when it comes to feminism, does not allow communication and dialogue between women of color who do not feel the need to converse. These women prefer to communicate with those whose dominance can affect social change, as well as those who have power or political influence (Aouragh, 2019). As a result of anti-racism and multiculturalism, ABX Women’s Rights Group as an organization is justified to get rid of women of color.
Anti-racism and multiculturalism have also taken a diverse form compared to the past ways. People are entering multicultural works at various levels and struggle with the existing societal differences in worldview, experience, and philosophy. They are working on understanding structural racism as presented by modern-day philosophies (Vasilaki, 2016). Previously, addressing racism was one of the toughest jobs faced by many leaders in society. This was due to the existence of complexity in the way people viewed racism. People traditionally perceived racism as an individual act of meanness and interpreted any discussion or racism in organizations as a personal affront (Vasilaki, 2016). However, in the modern world, racism is seen as an act that could be changed by the whole society. Thus, societies are participating in racism education workshops to acquire a shared understanding and lay a base for anti-racist organizational plans. In addition, Vasilaki, R. (2016) noted that post-secular feminism is characterized by communities using practices and policies which focus on the social cultures of racist actors. Most societies have been set up to support the privileges of the inherent social cultures in the world. The embraced cultures in the present society should reflect the existing bias unless there are thoughtful actions to oppose the unfairness. In cases where there is no knowledge of racial unfairness, the social culture of the race in question will affect primary policies and practices (Aouragh, 2019). Despite the above efforts, it is arguable that modern-day institutions are still highly dominated by policies and practices that lead to racial inequalities. ABX Women’s Rights Group will lay emphasis on campaigning against such policies and acts to avert racial inequalities in institutions.
New Ways of Thinking About Religious Freedom
Religious freedom is a phenomenon used to deny women equal protection under the law.
Religious categories and individuals utilize the privilege of freedom of religion to uphold the basic rights of others, especially women. However, this is presenting a stumbling block to groups that are working to guard women and minority rights (Nyhagen, 2017). It has been stressed that international conventions safeguard religion and religious rights. On the contrary, Nyhagen (2017) observed that the conventions are not protecting religions such as true claims, identities, and traditions; thus, religious anti-rights groups are emerging. These groups curtail women’s rights protection by using strategies that include disinformation campaigns and manipulation of women’s rights language. They offer a restriction on the exercise of sexual and reproductive rights (Dhaliwal, 2011). Participants in women’s rights have pointed out the issue of conscientious objection which is meant to restrict the application of the rights of women (Dhaliwal, 2011). The intention is to react by using ABX Women’s Rights Group to promote equality and freedom from discrimination against women.
There are legal and cultural practices that are founded on religious beliefs, though they encourage unequal treatment of women in their respective families, workplaces, and society at large. For instance, there are restrictions in education, inheritance laws, and rigid dress codes, practices that seem to hold women down. Freedom of speech and the press protect individuals’ rights and allows them to challenge religious beliefs and traditions (Dhaliwal, 2011). Any restriction to this freedom is a violation of the religious freedom of feminists. In this case, religious freedom is empowering women and giving them a chance of challenging the teachings of their religion. Spencer (2020) points out that interest in spirituality is growing across many cultures. People believe that it is not possible to understand the current world without knowledge of religion. Moreover, many individuals have focused on the increasing debate regarding the role and place of religion in life. Therefore, the majority of the modern-day population is a part of a religion of their choice based on the accorded freedom, an area that ABX Women’s Rights Group is committed to protecting.
New Ways of Thinking About Feminist Resistance
Feminist resistance is a term that reflects professionalization and the technicalities to promote gender equality and other inequality categories. It has transformed under a neoliberal kind of governance and culminated in variations in feminist knowledge subjectivities. Feminist resistance has focused on the neoliberal discipline, which is a consequence of gender equality planning (Assiter, 2016). With neoliberalism, feminist resistance has delimited possibilities of negotiating gender equality and instead strengthened inequality. Notion governance is being used to analyze the transformation of feminist resistance knowledge, a case that has governmentalized the phenomenon. The international development field has made effort to oppose a gender equality agenda that faces resistance among feminist women. These feminists are said to have specific concerns that some programs meant to engage men may hurt efforts for gender equality (Assister, 2016; Mohammed et al., 2018). ABX Women’s Rights Group will sustain feminist resistance as a way of attaining the state of ‘universal good.’
The research materials such as personal notes and interviews were taken during involvement in gender equality practices are conceptualized deeply. ABX Women’s Rights Group will use the researched information to attain knowledge applied in conducting feminist resistance practices. Currently, feminist resistance and power are entangled within the mainstream field, as women groups have established new opposition strategies in the form of public assemblies and state feminism (Mohammed et al., 2018). The present tactics of feminist resistance have fuelled different responses from movements repeating various anti-genderism discourses. Additionally, some of the forms of modern-day feminism overlap with or develop into distinct technologies of power. In their study, Lilja and Johansson (2018) noted that feminist resistance was initially done in disorganized forms. However, modern-day resistance frequently addresses more elaborate procedures in social movements. Moreover, some feminist practices require constructive evaluation to prevent actions that are too harsh (O’Malley & Johnson, 2018). Today, people have changed their perception of secularism, racism, multiculturalism, religiosity, and cultures. They are working on achieving social changes that are likely to favor communities. Regarding secularity, people are leaving secular ways of life and many are shifting to religiosity. Liberties and human rights are also taking the course as people are now fighting for equality. Minority groups such as lesbians, transgender, and intersex among others are presently depending on human rights. Most of the existing privileges work against discrimination and violence against women to attain justice. Accordingly, feminism opposes neoliberalism ideas and many movements work to mobilize it in improving political goals and market values. Identities in the political realm have also focused on denaturalizing the relationship between health homes as well as safety within the world. The racism that had made communities differ in many aspects of life is the only element that is not changing positively. It continues to dominate in major world communities because of color and other differences. However, with the commitment of ABX Women’s Rights Group, social changes are likely to occur and the state of ‘universally good’ achieved. Essentially, feminism resistance is predicted to increase around the world under the leadership of ABX Women’s Rights Group until gender equality is realized.
