Introduction

As per the American Medical Association, EHR innovation should: Enable a health care professional in their profession; enhance the quality of care; enhance clinical communication and synchronization, as well as the institution’s quality and practices; and support decision rather than obviate the need for vital analysis. EHRs and other health systems must function properly for those who use them in order to enhance patient care. Regrettably, practitioners were forced to obtain solutions that were not yet suited for patients or practitioners due to the haste with which EHR technology was deployed. As a result, EHR systems can sometimes obstruct effective care by rendering it challenging to locate or comprehend what clinicians want. It can be difficult to utilize technological tools, promptly, and safely at times.

Current State of Compliance in Independence Medical Center

Despite the well-established advantages of utilizing and effectively deploying well-designed Electronic health records systems, many incidents of healthcare practitioners being unsatisfied with several elements of EHR systems have been recorded. It has been suggested that healthcare practitioners spend more time engaging with computers than they do face-to-face with their patients. This might jeopardize the quality and safety of healthcare delivery, exacerbate the patient-provider relationship, and exhaust healthcare providers.

Furthermore, bad EHR system design might have a negative impact on patient safety, thereby jeopardizing patient health outcomes. System failures have resulted in inaccurate patient identification, dosage calculation mistakes, and the inability to access critical patient clinical data in several circumstances.

Current EHR Being Used

The institution is can only host a single system at a time. The management team of Villar Health Center had concluded that their current health information management system did not meet the existing patient data management regulation and that of Meaningful Use Guidelines. However there are other types of electronic health record that can be adopted by the institution, such as: Remotely-Hosted Systems and Remote Systems

Findings

EHR systems may aid in the delivery of care. Despite the fact that professional organizations and government bodies advocate for more implementation, there are no national statistics on EHR usage in pediatric primary care settings. A nationwide postal survey of 1000 randomly chosen primary health care doctors was conducted. From this, out of the 58 percent of those who responded, 21.3 percent of them reported that they utilized an EHR in their profession. The possibility of having an EHR system rises as the magnitude of the practice grows. Additionally, those in a practicing system were more inclined to have an EHR than those in other environments. Clinics that were smaller and more independent were less likely to consider utilizing an electronic health record.

Benefits of Electronic Health Record

EHRs encourages better communication styles between healthcare providers, lowered medical errors, diminished medication adverse occurrences, enhanced healthcare delivery, and encouraged more secure healthcare practices. EHRs have lowered the time it takes to process paperwork in medical institutions, elevated compliance of healthcare professionals to precise guidelines established by the government and human rights organizations, better communication among healthcare providers, reduced medication errors, reduced adverse drug events, improved healthcare delivery, and promoted safer healthcare practices. Currently, there is widespread agreement that electronic health records (EHRs) have the potential to enhance healthcare delivery, thus their complete acceptance and deployment have been encouraged.

Currently, there is widespread agreement that electronic health records (EHRs) have the potential to enhance healthcare delivery, thus their complete acceptance and deployment have been encouraged. This is because, prescription medications will be safer and more reliable, it will enhance the confidentiality and safety of the patient records to help clinicians increase work-life balance and productivity, and it Minimizes outlays through eliminating documentation, enhancing safety, reducing duplicate testing, and improving health.

Current Data Collection and Management Process

The act of gathering, storing, safeguarding, and analyzing data derived from patients’ personal and health records is known as data management of patients’ health records. Implementing all data management operations on this data enables for the provision of comprehensive and efficient health services, resulting in improved health condition.

Data management regulations are guidelines set by the government to govern how data is handled, processed and presented by health institutions. These regulations revolve around safe keeping of data assurances.

Maintaining Meaningful Use Guidelines

The implementation of Meaningful Use Guidelines is part of a successful endeavor to implement Electronic Health Records systems in medical institutions. Meaningful Use establishes specified goals that certified practitioners and healthcare facilities must meet in order to be eligible for CMS Incentive Programs. Players in Meaningful Use are evaluated not just on their performance, but also on what they can contribute to other sophisticated payment systems, such as accountable care organization (ACO) models.

Best Practices for Compliance

The following features are essential for an effective :

Enhance physicians’ capacity to offer high-quality patient care.

Encourage the use of a collaborative approach to care.

Encourage the coordination of health-care services.

Modularity and configurability should be included in your goods.

Reduce the amount of mental work you do.

Make your data more fluid.

Facilitate digital and mobile patient involvement to accelerate involvement from the user into product development and post-implementation reviews.

Support team-based care

Team-based care that is effectively-implemented has the potential to improve the comprehensiveness, coordination, efficiency, efficacy, and value of care, as well as patient and provider satisfaction. 2,4-8 Transitioning to team-based primary care requires significant changes in the culture and organization of care, the nature of interactions among colleagues and with patients, education and training, and the ways in which primary care personnel and patients understand their roles and responsibilities in most practices to achieve this potential.

Promote Care coordination

Even when it is evident that the changes will improve patient care and provider efficiency, making changes to a medical practice’s general approach and daily procedures can be difficult. Luckily, there are tools accessible for people interested in learning how to practice primary care with a coordinated care strategy.

This system offers a wide range of benefits such as:

Development of Effective Programs

Because small subprograms are easier to understand, construct, and test than huge programs, the modular method allows for faster program development. The programmer can supply the required input and check the module’s validity by reviewing the output after defining the module’s inputs and outputs. The linker then links and locates the individual modules into a single absolute executable program module. Finally, the entire module is put to the test.

Debugging and Modifying Ease

Monolithic programs are more difficult to debug than modular programs. Difficulties can be addressed to functional specifications thanks to the program’s well-defined module interfaces. Fixing the problem is much easier after the problematic module has been identified. Modular programming makes it easier to make changes to a program. You can safely link new or debugged modules to an existing program without fear of the remainder of the program changing.

Promote Data Liquidity

Integrating health data from numerous providers, such as the Blue Button program in the United States, can give consumers with more smooth and convenient services while also lowering costs and reducing risks for providers. Individual users can monitor and improve their health using the pooled data from this type of project, which can also create societal insight and public health findings and applications.

Facilitate Digital and Mobile Patient Engagement

Patients are also more prepared and at ease to ask important questions, trust that the provider is looking out for their best interests, and recognize the necessity of following through on care recommendations and needs.

Ensures that your patient services are used again and again: Patients who are engaged are more likely to be satisfied. Individuals are more likely to prolong the patient-provider connection when they feel supported by their physician, have a say in their own healthcare decisions, and are empowered to consistently improve their health.

Procedure-driven healthcare delivery style. The vendor’s services are suitable for both large health systems and single-specialty clinics.
