Literary Arts Poetry

The usage of conventions and forms in poetry recommends differential word interpretation or arouse passionate reactions. It is a literary form that uses rhythmic and aesthetic language qualities like meter, sound symbolism, and phonoaesthetics to suggest meanings besides the plain superficial meaning. The oldest remaining epic poem (Zhou & Brown, 2018) is the “Gilgamesh Epic,” originating from the 3rd BCE and was inscribed in cuneiform writing on clay tablets then papyrus. The prehistoric thinkers’ struggle to choose what makes poetry irreplaceable as a form and differentiates bad poetry from good leads to poetics, the poetry aesthetics study. Aestheticians, later on, acknowledged three main categories such as dramatic poetry, epic poetry, tragedy, lyric poetry, and handling comedy as dramatic poetry’s subgenres. Poetry tries to condense the sublime or beautiful poems without the weight of pleasing the narrative or logical thought process.

Poetry is frequently thought of as comprising different subgenres and genres. A poetic genre is a poetry classification or tradition (Zhou & Brown, 2018) based on style or subject matter. They include narrative poetry, epic poetry, lyric poetry, satirical poetry, Elegiac poetry, dramatic poetry, verse fable, prose poetry, speculative poetry, and light poetry. One of the components or elements that make up poetry is prosody, studying the poem’s intonation, meter, and rhythm. The major physical elements poetry uses are paragraphs or stanzas, lines, cantos, a combination of lines or stanzas, and broader visual arrangements of calligraphy and words. These basic poetic units’ forms are frequently joined into bigger structures called poetic modes or forms such as the haiku or sonnet.

One of the most important subtopics is the integration of poetry into the curriculum. That is because poetry is an essential tool used by learners (Zhou & Brown, 2018) to convey authentic creative learning consolidated into all content zones. Teachers often use poetry to improve literacy, comprehension and reading fluency, language arts, and stimulating mathematical reasoning among linguistic learners. Poetry plays an essential role in the overall child approach towards education. It is effective in character building, learning community, socialization, and classroom management. That is why in the classroom, students are encouraged to form a poetry circle or a poetry club to boost poetry reading, creation, and practice as the teacher creates a poetry billboard for learners to dispense their poems.

The scholars learn to poetically and creatively express themselves through observation from reliable learning environments like zoos and field trips. Lived adventure from vacations, holiday breaks, visiting museums, or other trips may also turn into a poetry integration platform to arouse students’ creativity and imagination. Poetry enables students to understand the power and beauty of language (Zhou & Brown, 2018) through the assimilation of poetry in all content zones. It involves mathematical reasoning, scientific inquiry, students’ new outlook, and critical language thinking. Integration of poetry as a principal thematic classroom element will strengthen students’ content learning and create a progressive learning atmosphere where learners work complaisantly to express their creative feelings, thoughts, and learning. Therefore, adding poetry into the curriculum will be a good start for helping our children to enjoy their studies.

My point of disagreement is that people should not base their poetry on specific genres and cultures but should enjoy the diversity of poetry written globally. For instance, readers comfortable in finding poetry with Rumi, Dante, Mickiewicz, and Goethe (Zhou & Brown, 2018) view it as regular meter and rhyme inscribed in lines; while other traditions or cultures like Biblical poetry use other ways to make euphony and rhythm that the readers can enjoy. That enables them to understand how poetry is written in certain cultures and the themes used in categorizing the poems. Modern poetry mirrors a criticism of poetic tradition (Zhou & Brown, 2018), testing and playing with the euphony principle by preceding the set rhythm or rhyme. In today’s progressively globalized sphere, poets frequently familiarize techniques, styles, and forms from different languages and cultures. Modern poetry is very knowledgeable because it is written from the poet’s mind, and it speaks to the reader’s mind.

It is attentive to taboos and the ugly side of life, such as crime, drug addiction, and prostitution. Traditional poetry, however, relies on linguistic and literary conventions to form its characteristics. It is usually written with a strict rhyme scheme and an iambic pentameter. Even though some poets working today carry out formal constraints on their jobs (Zhou & Brown, 2018), the method most commonly associated with modern poetry is free verse. Free verse enables a person to write poems through the inspiration they get from their surroundings. Adapting modern poetry instead of traditional poetry will benefit students at school trying to express themselves and the people who choose poetry as their careers.

In conclusion, literary arts poetry exposes us to a world where poetry lives and the different elements that constitute the formation of these poems. Through literary arts (Zhou & Brown, 2018), we can understand the history of poems and their place from the Gilgamesh Epic. Poetry requires intelligent people to write it and an individual inspired by their surroundings or the things happening in their daily lives. Furthermore, modern poetry has made people appreciate different poems from different cultures globally because it teaches us about diversity. Poetry has helped preserve our traditional culture, such as the Chinese “Shi,” which is used as traditional Chinese poetry. The visual presentation of poetry has added another spark to poetry. It helps readers visualize what the poet is talking about and matches the poems’ rhythm through different lengths of visual caesuras.

Performing Arts

Performing arts helps to describe our feelings, emotions, and expressions. It is an art arrangement where the performers use their bodies or voices in other objects to transmit an artistic feeling. The difference between performance art and visual arts (Zhou & Brown, 2018) is that in visual arts, the artists use various materials such as canvas or paint to make static or physical art objects. Performing arts entails numerous disciplines performed to a live audience that serves as an entertainment method. The various performing arts include dance, theatre, acrobatics, music, ballet, clown and circus, mime show, magic, puppetry, opera, ventriloquism, and speech.

The video and audio development recordings have endorsed private intake of the performing arts. Performers are artists who play performing arts before an audience. Examples of performers (Zhou & Brown, 2018) are comedians, actors, magicians, dancers, musicians, singers, and circus artists. Performing arts get their support from workers in a similar field, such as stagecraft, choreography, and songwriter. Entertainers often familiarize their appearance with sound, stage lighting, stage makeup, and costume. Every human culture has music, theater, and dance performances, while more sophisticated versions like opera and ballet are done professionally.

The most important subtopics are theater or children’s theater. Theatre is a division of performing arts interested in performing stories in the presence of live viewers through a combination of spectacle, dance, gesture, music, speech, and sound. The theater takes practices (Zhou & Brown, 2018) like musicals, plays, ballet, opera, mime, illusion, comedy, improvisational theatre, pantomime, and magic in addition to the usual narrative dialogue play style. It uses live performers such as actresses and actors to demonstrate the experience of an imagined or real event on a stage before live viewers. The performers use dance, speech, music, gesture, and song to communicate the experience to the spectator. The theater uses art elements like stagecraft and painted scenery to improve the experience’s immediacy, presence, and physicality.

The children’s theater is an official children’s performance such that it contains organizations devoted to theatre and children. The children’s theatre (Zhou & Brown, 2018) concentrates on performing arts types like puppet shows, plays, and magic, among others envisioned for a young viewer. It also entails the buildings and audiences devoted to children’s theater. That helps mentor young kids into having self-esteem and confidence whenever they appear in front of a live audience. The theater helps to build the children’s talent and creativity such that they will be able to maximize their talents and work hard on them. It also helps them to feel appreciated whenever they entertain and make people feel happy.

My point of disagreement is on ballet performances. Most people associate ballet with prestige (Zhou & Brown, 2018), and therefore, they have refused to invest in these other performing arts such as dance, theatre, acrobatics, music, clown and circus, mime show, magic, puppetry, opera, ventriloquism, and speech. They feel that they will not be able to get back their investments. Unfortunately, that is not true because acting is on the rise to being one of the most prestigious jobs in today’s society, especially if you are the director. Therefore, for the other types of performing arts to rise, people should avoid discriminating against them and associating them with the rich or poor. That is because they all have one goal, which is to entertain people. Growing the industry will help to preserve many talents that the people have to offer.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the world is slowly turning into a digital village. People no longer care about the grades you got in school but the talent you possess. Performing arts keep the viewers entertained through several forms of art (Zhou & Brown, 2018) such as dance, theatre, acrobatics, music, ballet, clown and circus, mime show, magic, puppetry, opera, ventriloquism, and speech. The video and audio development recordings have endorsed private intake of the performing arts. Thus the performing arts field has turned out to be a prestigious field by revealing the importance of each art. Nowadays, it is not only ballet art done professionally for money but also the other type of performing arts in the industry. In the past, most parents would deny us the opportunity to engage in extracurricular activities such as performing arts because they thought it would prevent us from concentrating in class. Today most people are earning a lot from that industry compared to people who go to the office to do an 8 am to 5 pm job.
