Introduction

Sustainability is an essential social, natural, political, and economic factor for any business, especially corporations. Microsoft, in this case, is the subject of public attention on this issue: for this reason, there are annual reports with various factors showing positive or negative trends. This paper will examine the critical aspects of the company’s report, analyze them, and draw conclusions about their long-term impact.

Microsoft’s report analysis

The main subject of interest is a recent corporate report dated January 2022. It details the processes and efforts being made to reduce the carbon footprint and help the world’s environmental organizations (Microsoft, 2021). Moreover, as a result of statistical calculations, it was concluded that the indicator will become negative by the year 2030 (Microsoft, 2021). Consequently, Microsoft will produce more benefits for nature than harms through greening. Based on such conclusions, one can assume that this is a highly positive trend. Moreover, it sets an important example that other large corporations concerned about their social image will sooner or later have to follow. However, the concern may be that all these programs may be part of marketing, and the bottom line is that performance in 7 years will not be what the public expects. Hence, it is necessary to take notice on the actions of companies and their value judgments on the issue of biological activities.

However, the trends described have a specific purpose set by the corporation. In particular, the expansion of offices and the distribution of products through the established image are the main goals of Microsoft. Consequently, human, social, and natural capital investments, in this case, allow open public outreach and the introduction of not only products but also technology. Moreover, as mentioned earlier, the example of environmental stewardship directly influences the activities of other corporations, creating a competitive threat. The reason is that they have to adapt to new trends, and if Microsoft has been systematically preparing these investments – their competitors, as a result, may have other plans for their liquid capital.

Conclusion

In conclusion, a cursory analysis of the firm’s current operations highlighted the main issues of advancing democracy. Conclusions have been drawn, and public reports have provided specific information. Moreover, positive and negative trends have been identified, and the need to observe further developments is evident. Through public awareness and private advocacy, it will be possible to target not only Microsoft but also other major corporations.
